Creating an opus is a personal thing. It can also be an overwhelming thing. Opus Residency was created to reduce the overwhelm and increase your enjoyment of the process and your satisfaction with the outcome.
Like this orientation package, we will meet you where you are currently at and support every step of the way using our tried and true framework of curiosity, creation, craft, commerce, and celebration.
We cannot wait to see you soon!
We will encourage you to embrace the motto behind Opus Mastery: Seriously Joyful.
Being who you are, there might be a voice in your head trying to tell you that your idea is not enough to become an opus.
That voice is wrong. An opus is not about size, scale, or any other measurement. It does not need the approval of others. It does not need to feel impressive or ambitious.
The only thing you need to figure out is this:
Does my idea pull on my curiosity? Is this something that fascinates me? Can I put my heart and soul into the making of this opus?
If your answer is yes – then your your idea is more than enough. It is perfect.
Want to join, but have not idea what your opus is?
You are probably overthinking this – just saying. Your opus does not have to be grand or ground-breaking. It just needs to be yours. Let's take a look at some resources that may spark some curiosity and fascination in you:
- You are mid-career and it is feeling a little bit like a slog.
- Achievement is no longer enough – you want fulfillment.
- You want to be among people who are excited about what they do.
- Some of your light has gone out – and you need to find it.
The regular Residency programming includes:
Opus With Me Sessions
Come and immerse yourself in the energy opus making.
Janet will host these sessions where we will each work on our opuses and chat about all things opus during the breaks.
An opus does not have to be made in isolation. It can be made while being energized by the enthusiasm and progress of your peers.
Peer Reviews
Step into the spotlight and get feedback on anything you need regarding your opus.
Janet will share her best insights along with your peers. We will encourage you, give you some straight talk, and celebrate your wins with you.
If you are on the shy side of life, this is also a friendly place to practice for the debut of your opus.
Scenius Groups
We will assign you into smaller groups that allow you to harness the collective genius.
There is something magical that happens in the cross-pollination of things. Many of the great works you admire happened while the maker was participating in a scenius.
Let's see what magic we can conjure together.
Opus Premières
As opuses are being completed we will host Premières where you'll get to debut your opus, share the behind the scenes of its making, and celebrate with all of us. We cannot wait!
The fee for joining the six month Residency is $2850 – but that is not all you need to invest.
You'll need to invest your time. Time you could have spent doing other things, or wasted depending on how your time is usually spent.
You'll need to invest your resources. Only you know what your opus requires in form of resources and what type of atelier would be helpful to you. But let's face it, we can all get carried away when it comes to supplies.
You'll need to invest your energy. This might feel like the easiest investment, or the hardest. Know this, in relation to your opus, energy will start to feel like a renewable resource.
So, do you have everything you need to invest?
Before the Residency begins we will be hosting an Orientation week starting on October 6, 2024.
The goal is to introduce you to your fellow opus makers and give you all the information you need to get the most out of your residency.
Those of you who are eager beavers and get admitted to the Residency before September 16, will also get a one-on-one fascination call with Janet, our Head of Mastery, as a part of your Orientation.
During that call you'll get feedback on your opus and chance to chat through anything else about its making.
